Oh my God! The best site I ever looked at. I went to books for adults and selected Biograhy/Autobiography then Personal Memoirs then clicked go. I got all the books which I have to read now. I am sorted for the Chirstmas break.

Of course I would promote EnCompass Culture to customers because first it is a worldwide reading group and a place to find your next book. Talk about books with other readers. This site will help you to choose the book you want to read.

It was quite easy when my son helped me add the image to my blog. We searched for an image which he liked and then we copied the image embed code and pasted it on to my blog post. Yes I will use it again.What I liked the most was that its legal and free. I don't like to do things which are dodgy...whatever!!!

I would promote to customers because I'm sure most of them are doing blogs (I think) and they can look for images for their blogs. There are so many images that it would suit everyone and it would save time.

SlideShare

Slideshare is very easy to use. I have been using it alot. Its make education more informal and you can teach yourself anytime and anywhere. You can do voice over instead of just havivng the audience read your slides. Yes we should use it on learnet.nets and in our our workrooms. I will always use it. It is just so handy. I think we should promote this site to customers because its easy to use and can be used anywhere. Using a blog invites people to collaborate.

Tastespotting

The tastespotting is a mouth-watering photo collection of recipes. And it very true that you eat with your eyes. I have decided to take the buttercake recipes as it has a lot of memory of my childhood. The recipe looks quite simple which I think I will make in the weekend. The tastespotting is a very easy site to use. No I really like the idea that we can do some fun things too.

Tastespotting is going to be my favourite foodie sites. I had a fun looking at all the recipes and will let all my friends and families know about this site.

Feed My Inbox

Feed My Inbox was very easy to use. First you have to registration with first and last name, email address and password. Then you can use the page for adding feeds. I didn't even wait for emailconfirmation. How cool was that.

I am sure that we can use in on learn-net and workroom. I can' see why not.

I would recommend this to customers. Its very easy to use. You get daily emails updates and you have 5 feeds free for users. I am definitely going to use this.

Boxnet

Yes I would use boxnet if I had documents, data collections and pictures that I wanted to save. Boxnet was easy to use once I knew what to do. You just upload stuff to it and then the information is availabe anywhere you can get a computer. You can use it as USB stick.

I don't know if I would use it personally because I do not need things online that much at the moment and I like my USB stick.

Yes I would promote Boxnet to customes. You can store information such as paper scanning, data collection and pictures which you can share. If you want a easy-to-use oneline storage services. Boxnet is for you. A good thing is you can a free account then if you want to keep it, you can join where they do charge a fees for online storage services

Music files and mp3s

I visited the website Amazon Mp3 Store and show that could sort by: Song title; Artist;album;time;price. I wanted some belly dancing music so put belly dancing and search. All the belly dancing CDs show up.You could play samples and if you don't want to buy the cd you can just buy the song you like. I thought that was very cool and now will buy some. There were daily deals and special sales. You can play music anywhere just download from Amazon. It is easy to use. customers would be able to use it unsupervised. At the moment this is only the site which I know that offer free and legal music for download.

Books and Social networking

Goodreads is a place where you can go and sign up to discuss and share books which you have read. You can create your own Library catalogue and reading list. This is good for readers' advisory because you can find out information from people with similar taste in books and you are able to have own groups of books and make suggestions and have discussions. This is help them know what to read next. You can also see what books are on the popular list.

zamzar - converting file formats

I went to my email to find a document which is a pdf. But most of my emails are jokes and pictures which is jpg. So I choose to do a jpg to pdf.

Step 2 choose the format to convert jpg to pdf. Then put my email address and received the converted files. When I was off desk I checked my emails and there it was. A message said that the follwoing file was successfully converted from jpg to pdf formal. pic 23970. I can't believe that it was so easy.

We should use zamzar on learn. nets and and our workrooms. Zamzar will help you transform your songs, video, images and document into different formats or to any formats you like. I would use this site again and promote it. I myself had never heard of zamzar.

Week 3: Twitter-micro-blogging at a glance

Twitter was easy to join, I got set up with an account in few minutes. It is like text messaging.

I think most of our customers are already using twitter. Its a good idea to have it on learn.net and our workrooms. We could follow the Manukau Libraries twitter and know know what happening and listen in, enter into conversation. Putting out message and it all can be work related.

I would use twitter because it seem a easy way to communicate. Customer can use the Manukau Libraries twitter to be in the zone. Just like a newsletter. A place to find useful information.

Week 1 : Blogger - set up your own blog

Hi, so I am here again doing my blog, have just come back from a hoilday from Fiji. Nice break lovely weather. Well I will get back and start to blog again.

I have lots of fears of not having time to do my blog. Once I am home it hard to find the phone, to find the computer is another story. Sometimes when the phone rings I don't know which of my boys has it in their room. By the time I find it, it stops ringing. Well what joy will I have now that "my boys" have convinced my husband that they need wireless for homework. I think I will be blogging in my lunch time.

I am sure that there are lots of advantages of having a library blog. Blogger allows people to interact with other people. We can promtoe our library and have a blogger book club online.
